The League of Architectural Filmmakers and Storytellers (LAF/S) is a professional organization committed to improving the built environment through the power of filmmaking. Our mission is to:

  • Promote the role of video as the pre-eminent tool of spatial representation in the 21st century

  • Educate built environment professionals to better understand the uses and value of film and storytelling

  • Provide filmmaking resources to design professionals, builders, owners, government agencies and community organizations

  • Foster engagement between those designing, building and advocating for the built environment and the public at large

  • Support architectural filmmakers and the growth of our community in the craft and the development of our work

Why do we tell stories?

To raise awareness of the amazing stories embedded within our built environment and to help expand the reach of good quality, healthy, resilient and equitable design to all.

Architectural films are produced for a wide variety of purposes and can be crafted with just as many narrative visions. These are just some examples that we love by our fellow filmmaking community and want to share as benchmarks for what's possible in the telling of great stories from our industry.

If you are a content creator, filmmaker, videographer, cinematographer, storyteller, animator and/or a motion graphics guru working with the design, construction and building industry then we want you. Yes, we want you to join our community of spirited creators to add your voice to the conversation, share your lessons learned, showcase your work and help us educate, advocate and grow the use of storytelling within the industry. 

We need to combine all of our efforts to help push the global industry into the 21st Century by using the most powerful medium we have to showcase great work and engage an even greater range of society with the power of good built environments.
